We leave Cambodia, 24/07/16

Our last day here in Cambodia started with Khmer Mass at 7:30am. Although it was pretty hard to get up for and  we have no idea what is being said most of the time, this language barrier allows us to notice other things such as how people react to Fr. Totet’s homily or how we know the tone of it because of his expression or voice. It’s nice to notice these different things as we usually know around about what’s being said because we attend the English Mass the night before.

After Mass is always lovely too, because we get to see many of the people we have met during our time in Siem Reap. The Sisters of Charity are always there and today they brought a few of the children from the orphanage who sat through the whole mass perfectly, which we were very impressed with. We said goodbye to some of the students from St Joseph’s Centre and to others we have met.

None of us had packed yet, and Chloe and I had to leave our rooms by 12, so we went back to the hotel quite soon after. We didn’t have any plans for the rest of the day, as we didn’t want to be rushing to pack, so we spent some time relaxing in the sun and wandering round the town after lunch. It was very strange not doing much and staying in the hotel and even more strange to think that we’ve been here a month, as it’s flown by!

We met Fr Totet for dinner in Pub Street before we left and Toeun and Saven came later on, which was nice. They then gave us a lift to the airport and right now we’re sitting in Bangkok Airport waiting for our flight to Heathrow.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s been following the blog, we hope you’ve all enjoyed it! Also, thank you to those of you that donated toothbrushes, clothing, etc. as they have all been greatly appreciated.
